There are many spellings to the word Beltane, Beltaine, Bealltainn, or Bealtaine but the meaning is all the same.
The word Beltaine is said to be derived from a Common Celtic word: belo-te(p)niâ, meaning "bright fire."
In ancient Ireland villages they hosted bonfires where villagers brought their cattle. It was believed that the the Beltaine flames and smoke had protective power.
Villagers would leap the bonfires in hopes of gaining good fortune. Springtime bounty was everyone's wish.
Beltaine....Translates to Fire.
Its a celebration of life and rebirth.
Ringing in the Spring on May 1st!
The exact opposite of the celebration of Samhain or Halloween which is about death.
This Beltaine embrace your inner Fire!!!
In honor of it being Beltane I am wearing BRIGHT red lipstick :))))
Today, embody FIRE! Wear red! BE red!
If you are like me and can't get to a bonfire to jump, then light a candle!
Use your fingers to jump the flames :)))
Xoxo
